Dynamic Component Animation troubles

Postby raumplan on Sat Oct 17, 2009 3:59 pm

Dear Adam, your tutorial on DC animation was awesome!
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=404&start=0&hilit=dynamic+components

But I have many problems to create this interactivity functions (maybe because LU recognizes only "OnClick ANIMATE" command ?'):

Image

I want parking bollards move under the ground and the chain disappear on mouse click...

Image

...and in SU all goes well!

Image

On tourtool nothing happens! Only this command will work: ANIMATE... (you know)

Image

But in this case i can't hidden the chain on the same click!

I hope the pictures are clear (and my bad english too!)

(If you want i can post the original SU file...)

Thank you!

Yes, it is a limitation at the moment of the LightUp animation that it will only apply animation to the top level object and not the groups/instances contained within it.

A workaround is to explode the contained groups/instances into 1 object that you can then animate as a single object.

Just a quick tip.

If you have objects that move such as Dynamic Components, it a good idea to uncheck the Sketchup "Cast Shadows" box in Entity Info.

This way, when your objects moves to a new location, it doesn't leave a "ghost shadow". It will shaded correctly, but simply won't block light.
